Biography:

Zenae Scott, a San Francisco Bay Area native has served the needs of under-privileged and under-served communities for over a decade. With a strong background in diversity education as a skilled facilitator and trainer, Zenae’s focus and passion is to help youth discover their potential to make a difference in a diverse world. To accomplish this great feat, Zenae has merged the fields of diversity education and asset development to touch one youth at a time. Currently in Sacramento, Zenae works with the California/Nevada Community Action Partnership (Cal/Neva) as the Statewide EITC and Asset Development Coordinator, in which she provide education, training and technical assistance to California and Nevada community action agencies and their affiliates. As the Coordinator, she has developed various training tools to assist agencies in doing Earned Income Tax Credit outreach and implementing asset development strategies. She co-authored Tax Time in Community Action, a resource guide for agencies interested in implementing an asset development program that involves tax preparation. She is currently working on Volume 2 of the guide. Zenae is also an independent trainer and consultant in social program development. Her focus is emancipating foster youth programs. She focuses on life skills training and civic engagement. Zenae assists foster youth in obtaining the assets they need to succeed in life through use of real life modules and participatory activities. Zenae has worked for the Anti-Defamation League as a diversity trainer and program coordinator. She has designed programs for youth, educators, school administrators, various non-profits, and law enforcement on prejudices, biases, and discrimination in schools. She has served on the Citizen’s Academy Taskforce of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and as board member for many educational programs. Zenae has also worked with various programs dealing with sex education, health and hygiene, drugs and alcohol, and bullies. Zenae has a BA in Political Science from University of California, Riverside and is currently finishing her Master’s in Public Administration from Golden Gate University. Zenae has knack for understanding diverse populations and shows great empathy working with any population. Zenae continues to strengthen communities by volunteering and mentoring when she can.
